New year! New post!

Welcome to a NEW YEAR, I have a feeling 2014 is going to be a great year!

It's been awhile since I last blogged as I've been focussing a lot on my facebook page A Pause in Transit. It was tough choosing what to blog first as over the last year I have taken so many photos, and a lot of them are already on my facebook page, check it out if you want to see what I have been up to. These photos are not from NYE but are quite recent from the Sydney Navy fleet review in October 2013. I thought they were perfect to post first as I said before 2014 is going to be a great year so why not start the blog with a big bang! Looking forward to many more post this year.

The cutest wedding invitation!

My gorgeous friend Jodie from Whiskers Lane is getting married this year, she asked me to help with the design of her wedding invitation. I wish I could take credit for the drawing but sadly I cannot, Jodie's soon to be mother-in-law drew this lovely picture for her and I designed the invitation around the drawing. Jodie and Joel's invitations are cute, quirky and truly unique. Can't wait for their wedding. xoxo

4th of July Love

Ever since I lived and went to University in the States I've had a love for America. So I just wanted to say Happy 4th of July to everyone and to all my American friends and hopefully next year I'll be able to spend it with you guys. The above photo was taken back in 2009 while road tripping from Vegas to San Fran. We stopped at the coastal town of San Simeon, an absolutely beautiful sunset and coast.

My Friend Franky Home Photo Shoot

When the sister duo Jess & Steph from My Friend Franky asked me to photograph their beautiful home in Woollahra I was ecstatic. I've been wanting to shoot their home for sometime as it is so bright and fresh and the girls have impeccable style. So when they collaborated with Rapee Home it was such a great opportunity not only to shoot their home but the amazing range by Rapee I just couldn't refuse.

Here's to the Long Weekend

I'm already missing the Queens Birthday Long Weekend it went by so fast! To get the creative juices flowing for the weekend I designed an Andy Warhol collage to post on my instagram account. The weekend started off with a creative collaboration for My Friend Franky and Rapee Home. I shot the home of sisters Jess & Steph from My Friend Franky. Below is a behind the scenes photo that Jess  took of me shooting her home (actual photos to come soon). The rest of the weekend was full of catching up with friends and family and eating out lots. I had some great meals at Three Blue Ducks in Bronte and Bread and Circus in Alexandria.

Melipone Cakes

A few months ago Elise from Melipone Cakes asked me to photograph a Christening she was styling and baking for at the Royal Botanic Gardens Restaurant. The Botanic Gardens was an impressive if not lavish location to host a christening. Elise has an amazing gift when it comes to baking and decorating. The theme she came up with was around hot air balloons and vintage travel. She didn't want the usual aeroplanes or cars for boys, so kept those classic ideas and gave it a vintage twist with pinwheels made out of old maps and mini suitcases to hold all things sweet. For the occasion, she baked chocolate fudge cake pops, chocolate and vanilla hand painted hot air balloon cookies and salted caramel and white chocolate cupcakes. All of which I must say were some of the most mouthwatering desserts!! Even now while writing about these photos I took I can't stop but keep dreaming about having one of those cupcakes again.

Take me back to Canada!

This new post has been a long time coming! Last June I took a trip to Canada to visit my best friend Jess who lives just outside of Calgary. It was my first time to Canada and I absolutely fell in love with it. This trip was more of a food safari than a travelling trip; Jess planned our trip around places we had to eat or drink coffee at and it has now convinced me that this is the way to travel. Generally, all the best food places are in the coolest areas. I'm not a foodie but thanks to Jess and her love of amazing foods, restaurants, cafes and the general foodie life I think I became a semi foodie. I met Jess in Vancouver - an amazing city. After 5 days we then flew to Calgary and based ourselves in Cochrane where Jess lives. If you're ever in Cochrane you must check out Jess's cafe Java Jamboree - one of the best coffee shops in town and i'm not just saying that because she's my friend. From Cochrane we explored Calgary, the Rocky Mountains, Banff, Canmore, Lake Moraine, Lake Louise, Waiparous, Elbow Falls, Forget-Me-Not Pond in Kananaskis and, lastly, Saskatoon Berry Farm in Okotoks. I was dying to get over to Montreal and Toronto but sadly I ran out of time! Still, it gives me a good excuse to get back to Canada and also back to visiting Jess.

When I travel I pretty much have my camera glued to my face, taking in new places, experiences and people. Being able to photograph a particular moment in time is what I love about taking photos. My blog name A Pause in Transit is about what I capture in my life because it is a constant journey. All Photos are taken with my Canon 50D using a 24-70mm Lens.
